Austrian Embassy - Consullor Section

Commercial counselor of the Austrian Embassy (finished in 2005)
Design and built project
Total built area: 1000 m2

In 2004 the Commercial counselor of the Austrian Embassy, entrusted us, the reinforcement and refurbishment of its office in Jordan neighborhood. I was in charge of both design and construction. The plot was 880 m2 large and the built area around 1000 m2. The real challenge in this project was how to reinforce the structures with 60 tons of steel profiles and to replace all the technical installations and finishes without interrupting even a day the office routine functions. In order to get over this problems, the project team, divided the building vertically into 2 parts. Once the first part was finished, the office moved in and the construction works started at the second part. The works included reinforcement of the structures against earthquake, replacement of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, reconstruction of the terrace, transforming the underground floor into a multifunctional meeting room with a plenty of natural light, creation of a new staircase, creation of sky lights, full refurbishment of the toilets and kitchen, restoration of the old doors and windows (originally designated to be replaced by PVC openings), furniture, landscaping etc.
In the choice of finishes, the project remains faithful to the same family of materials and colors. In order to enhance harmony in the interior design, the cubic, square and rectangular forms were used everywhere: sofas, chairs, boiseries, toilet bowls, wash basins, faucets, light fittings, door handles etc.
